2024 Symposium Session Briefs – Representation Matters
The 2024 Weitzman Institute Virtual Symposium provided a unique opportunity to hear from some of the nation’s top thought leaders, clinicians, researchers, and entrepreneurs who are leading efforts in the Institute’s key priority areas: Social Determinants of Health, Health Systems Transformation, and Workforce Development.
The theme of the 2024 Symposium, “Representation Matters,” is particularly significant given that 70+ countries, including the United States, are holding elections this year. At the Weitzman Institute, we understand that representation is a key factor in our work towards health equity and justice, not just during election years but every day. This Symposium delves into the importance and impact of Representation Matters, especially in the realms of health policy, research, clinical training and practice, and healthcare innovation and technology.
The Symposium served as a platform for addressing the persistent inequities in primary care. It encourages the dismantling of these inequities and advocates for the creation of a more just healthcare system that better serves its workforce, patients, and communities, particularly those most in need.
